Without Ritalin by Samuel A. Berne download in ePub, pdf, iPad
Most research to date has found that Ritalin is a safe drug when taken as directed. Gruber notes that these withdrawal symptoms can be more discouraging to the user than the negative side effects of taking the drugs, making it tempting for people to start using again.
It is not known whether Ritalin will harm an unborn baby. Selling or giving away this medicine is against the law.
Treatment usually begins with tapering the intake of the drug and treating withdrawal symptoms, if any. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. An overdose of methylphenidate could be fatal. The chart below lists medical conditions you should discuss with your doctor before taking Adderall or Ritalin. People with certain health issues may need to avoid taking these drugs.
Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Stimulants have caused stroke, heart attack, and sudden death in certain people.
Read all patient information, medication guides, and instruction sheets provided to you. Ask your doctor before using a stomach acid medicine including Alka-Seltzer or sodium bicarbonate. Serious, long-term consequences are relatively rare. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose. If you need surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using Ritalin.
